Onkyo HF Player Ver.2.0.0 has added a new function which calls “Real time DSD convert” function. It converts PCM (WAV, FLAC, ALAC, e.t.c.) high & normal resolution audio files to DSD high res audio signals.
This function provides for Japanese users only. But you can use this by changing language configuration of iOS temporally. Onkyo hides the button of “Real time DSD convert” from HF player’s Settings screen. I don’t know the reason why.
I explain the way to activate “Real time DSD convert” function for non-Japanese users.
You must change language to Japanese in iPhone settings temporally.
Access to Settings >> General >> Language & Region.
Tap the “iPhone Language” menu.
Wait for a while.
Start up again HF Player. And access to “Settings” in the Onkyo HF Player.
You can see the menu of “Real Time DSD Convert” setting button in it. Tap it!
There are 4 options.

Onkyo warns that by the orange letters.
If you play music with USB DAC which can accept the DoP(DSD on PCM) signals, HF Player can convert PCM files (MP3, AAC, FLAC and others) to DSD signals. High Precision mode consumes much more CPU power, but S/N ratio (signal-to-noise ratio) improves. This mode consumes more buttery.
You can access to full functionality of DSD play. But you will see the Japanese alert at changing the settings about DSD. Tap the right button which means “Agree & Continue”. it’s a same screen bellow in English mode.
Then, you should come back to English mode on iOS for your convenience. You can still use Real time DSD convert mode of HF Player in English mode.
Tap “General” button.
Tap “Language & Region” button.
Tap “iPhone Language” button.
Tap “English” or other language you want.
Tap “Change to English” button.
You can play PCM files as DSD formatted musics by real time DSD converting with DAC like iFi nano iDSD. This combination is amazing!
